Julio Randrianarimanana

Julio Hasiniaina Randrianarimanana is pursuing a PhD in Science & Technology Studies at the Bayreuth International Graduate School of African Studies (BIGSAS). He is a statistician by training and is from Madagascar. His doctoral research explores the social and political forces behind deforestation monitoring in Madagascar. It combines spatial time series analysis with on-the-ground, ethnographic insights to examine how data is shaped by institutions and local realities. The goal is to develop more equitable and effective strategies for forest conservation that respect both environmental needs and community livelihoods.
