PhD project
Working title: African Swine Fever
This project engages with attempts to (re)gain control over the African Swine Fever virus in Brandenburg (North-Eastern Germany). On September 10, 2020, the first wild boar infected with African Swine Fever (ASF) was confirmed in Germany. In my research, I engage with how the ASF outbreak is experienced by various affected actors. How is the virus encountered? Which logics inform the biosafety measures and how do they materialize? How are these measures put into practice and/or contested by local actors? How are human-wild boar relations changing? Whom and what does the ASF activate, what does it fuel visible? Those are among the questions that guide my PhD project.
