Dr. Thomas Hüsken
Senior Research Fellow at the department for ethnology
Thomas Hüsken is currently holding a position as senior research fellow at the department for ethnology of the university of Bayreuth. His main fields of research are political anthropology with a particular focus on non-state forms of power and the anthropology of development. The main regions of research are North Africa and the Middle East. Thomas has worked about the economy of the Awlad ‘Ali Bedouin in the Egyptian-Libyan borderland. He conducted empirical research about development experts and intercultural management in the Middle East. His current research project is titled "Political Orders in the Making: comparative study of emerging forms of political organisation from Libya to Northern Mali". Thomas is co-founder of the African Borderlands Research Network (ABORNE, http://www.aborne.org/).
